Condolences to those with sick, lost or Angeled carpet sharks. Well, I read, I searched, I listened, then I finally decided to write a letter. Since the method of contacting Proctor & Gamble to send them letters requires me to fill out a form, I don't have the actually questions that I asked them. However, you can be assured that all of the interesting ones were in there. Some of the questions specifically asked if the formulas for Iams had changed either prior to, or after acquisition by Proctor & Gamble. I also asked about the sources of protein, additions or deletions of items, labeling on the packaging, (including the claim that they don't have to change their labeling to reflect changes in content, other than every six months--turns out that this claim isn't quite so). Anyway, to make a long story short (so those fuzzbutts amongst you who are *also* reading can still pay attention!), I've made a Web Page out of the reply and posted it on the internet. The address is as follows: http://users.success.net/toddl/Iams/ As you can see, this isn't a "form letter" response. The woman that answered took each of my questions and addressed it specifically, or took those questions that were all of a relevant nature and responded to them in detail. The only specific question that I forgot to ask, was what the percentage of animal protein was in relation to the percent of plant protein, though I *did* remember to put the information into the letter that I sent. I said that I was feeding Iams to my ferrets (as well as my cat) and that they couldn't use plant protein. As it so happens, this is also true to a certain extent for cats. Though she didn't go into details, reading the bag for this information was fairly informative. Hopefully, this will quell the "he said/she said" controversy that is currently flying through the ether (and, unfortunately, through the Internet E-Mail community). Rumors will never take the place of cold, hard facts. They will, however, warm up a good gossip party! :) Todd and the Fuzzbutt Rodeo Clowns! --- [log in to unmask] http://users.success.net/toddl/ [Posted in FML issue 2999]
