Dooks to all! Just wanted to post an update about our baby Murphy, she had adrenal surgery on Tuesday the 15th-ended up removing the left completely and as much of the right one as possible...Big Thanks to CJ for recommending Dr. Kombstetter at Park Animal Hospital. We were able to bring her home Wednesday night and she is eating, drinking and eliminating fairly well. She rejected the food the doctor sent home but we improvised with her normal food and made a "quasi duck soup". We have her isolated in a separate cage which goes to whatever room we are in at the time, but we have been bringing our other kids out to visit her (much sniffing and licking through the cage bars) only Sadie our other little girl got to make an inside visit. Murphy keeps insisting that she is well enough to romp outside the cage if we would just let her but Mom & Dad are insisting on lot's of bed rest. One nice result has been she likes to snuggle which if you knew her you'd know that she is not a big snuggler yet unless it's to get down your shirt or up your pant leg. Now she let's Mom and Dad hold her and coo to her. The only problem we are having is getting her to take her amoxy...for someone so small she can put up a fight, clamps her jaw shut (even while being scruffed) and bats with her front paws...so far we are mixing it with a little nutristat but I would love any suggestions to make this easier. This has definitely been a learning experience, unfortunately Sammy is now awaiting results of the Tennessee test so we may be doing this again in another couple of weeks. More later...
