Your solution to the tall cage stand is a great one. Here is what we did instead. If you take off the long leg extensions and just put the casters directly into the shorter leg pegs that stick out from the base of the cage stand (the rectangle that the pan sits on) then the cage is still able to be easily rolled around, but the cage is only about an inch and a half off of the floor. The casters don't snap in precisely, but they stay in just fine once the cage is on the stand. We still have a small ramp laying over the door when it's open for easier access for the fuzz.
