I've been an FML lurker, not a poster, for more than a year now. I enjoy
reading the posts and find the ferret information is extremely helpful.
Right now, I need info of any kind to help my sweet little guy, Frodo.
Frodo is my 5 year old ferret. He had both his adrenal glands and his
right kidney were removed due to adrenal cancer in September. He's been on
Prednisone and Florinef since. He was very energetic and bouncy for the
first few weeks, then he stopped eating on his own. I've been syringe
feeding him various forms of Duck Soup recommended by his vet and trying
desperately to get him to eat ferret kibble.

He's lethargic and appears depressed most of the time unless I take him
some place new. Then he gets excited and runs around for an hour before
falling asleep.

The muscles of his legs are becoming weaker(insulinoma was ruled out). He
has fat deposits around his abdomen, but his back is bony. I'm concerned -
is it muscle wasting from the Prednisone or is it inadequate nutrition?
His vet cannot find any sign of the cancer and his blood panel came back
normal except for a slightly elevated BUN(which could also be pred induced
or kidney dysfunction).

If anyone recognizes this problem or has any advice please email me.
Thanks.
