So far we've been able to avoid "breeds" in ferrets.  There are just ferrets
of different colors.
 
In general color has absolutely nothing to do with gentleness.  With some
breeders ther gentler ferrets genes happen to also pass with certain colors
but its coincidence not a specific color thing.  Its the same with dogs,
cats, ferrets goats and basically all animals we know.
 
Ferrets are domesticated from the European Polecat not the black footed
ferret though they are both polecat/weasels.  There is also a Siberian or
Steppe or Chinese Polecat that looks more like the black footed ferret then
the domesticated or European polecat.
 
We have ferrets of basically all colors and there is definitely not a
difference in personalities based on colors.
