First the good news:
As of today (5/23/96), the Govemor of MD signed a state law requiring
ferrets to be innoculated with Imrab 3 and if the ferret bites someone, it
can be quarantined. this law will go into effect in October 96.

now the bad news:
On March 30, a ferret was innoculated at the vets with Imrab 3 in Maryland.
On may 18, it nipped two support people in this same vet clinic and the
bites were reported and now the state wants the ferret for testing.

If you have ANY way of helping to save this ferret (political clout, are a
vet in MD and can apply peer pressure, have documents about other animals
haveing a stay of execution, what to protest in front of the clinic because
the vet techs didn't have theri rabies shots... etc.) Please FAX
410-923-3540 or contact Jim Scott of the Bay Area Ferret Fun-atics -
410-923-2417.

Thank you

Pam / STAR*
