I just wanted to add to Ela's post.
 
Chere and I were in touch regularly last week.
 
Larry had spent quite a bit of money for fuel for the planes to take them
to SC out of harms way.  These are not planes for a hobby, they are Chere
and Larry's livelihood, as they operate a flight school.
 
Chere was worried about her ferrets having food.  She hadn't eaten
herself in a couple of days.  She was glad to see the National Guard
show up with MRE's.  But she was more interested in making sure her
ferrets had food.
 
Her home had serious damage.  I offered her supplies, and she asked
instead that I call another shelter just north of me to give them the
supplies.  I offered her a generator, but regretfully it wasn't going
to be able to provide her the type of power that she needed to cool
her home for the ferrets.  She asked me to instead offer it to another
shelter.  She was thinking of everyone but herself.  That's the type of
person she is.  Please if you can, send her $1 via PayPal.  Give up your
morning Starbucks and send it to her.  She has done so much for the
ferret community, and never has asked for anything in return.  Now she
is desperately in need.
