I am not a Vet.  but I do have ferrets.  You do not say if you give your
ferret a skin and coat supplement.  I feed Ferretone, a half teaspoon
daily to help keep away the dry skin.
 
Here in New England, we heat all winter, and skin gets dry.  Your ferret
is no different.
 
Give it a try, it cannot hurt.
