Hi--

We have to ferrets, Brigid and Baby who are very alike is size and coloring
and who share a cage with 4 other ferrets.

One ferret has decided she likes another ferret's name better than her own
and has started answering to it. Baby has been a resident here for about
18 mos. An older rescue we decided not to place.

Brigid came to us as a foster care kit, who we decided to keep. Brigid
was nippy and needed a great deal of handling. She has progressed so well,
that she can be taken out in public to large gatherings and handled by
anyone. She and Grany Malley are my so called Irish Twins, Grany named
after the Irish pirate queen Grace Malley, and Brigid, after the warrior
goddess, of druidic Ireland.

While all this training was going on, Baby started answering to Brigid's
name and impersonating her whenever possible. Brigid had a good deal
going and Baby wanted in on it. Baby has spent so much time impersonating
Brigid, Brigid no longer answers to her own name, and neither does Baby,
who continues to answer to Brigid.

I have renamed Brigid , Caleidh (cay-lee), an Irish party and have started
to train her to the new name.
