You can get ferrets microchipped, however, they aren't a tracking device
just an identi chip.
 
I use a locator for my ferrets when I go ferreting - the ferret wears
a small transmitter on a collar and the ferreter operates a receiver.
Using this system enables the ferreter to follow the action that is going
on underground.  The range of the equipment is only 15' - the transmitter
is 1.5" long and 3/4" x 1/2".  The manufacturers make a micro system but
the transmitter only sends a signal 8'.
