After 12 years in ferret rescue, Best Little Rabbit, Rodent & Ferret
House's board of directors has decided to stop accepting ferrets. There
are now numerous other ferret rescues in the Seattle/Puget Sound area
of Washington state and the need is no longer what it was 12 years ago.

However, having made that decision; a person came into the shelter
two days ago, holding up a ferret and said she'd purchased him from a
street person who was selling him for drug money, but that she couldn't
take care of him. We took him in. None of the other shelters in this
area can be contacted immediately and this type of situation will
continue to happen. We don't mind at all being a drop off location
for another shelter. If anyone would like to take us up on this offer
contact me, otherwise my board has stated that I can NOT accept another
ferret.

Ferret City in Burlington has said they would take any ferret left
with us, but they are over 60 miles away. Is there a volunteer who
is willing to do the occasional transport between our shelters?

We now have to figure out how to change our name and where to place our
remaining 2 adoptable ferrets. Viking and Robbin are two large boys,
born appx. June 2006, they are both microchipped and are current on
their rabies and distemper vaccines. One's a Canadian ferret and a
little nippy, but both are wonderful playful boys.

I have not named the ferret we just took in. The person was told he
was about 1 year old, but the tips of his yellowing teeth turning
translucent tell me he's probably 5 years old.

We are committed to keep the remaining 13 ferrets who are not so
adoptable. The ferts will continue to have playtime everyday for 3-4
hours and will not be neglected. But if someone would be interested
in fostering/adopting any of them please contact me at
