Anthony, we (my wife and I) have two little girl fuzzies and we had trouble
getting one of them to use the litter box. We tried bitter apple spray but
chloe (the one with the problem) actually likes the taste of that so that
didn't work for us. Bitter apple is supposed to be nasty tasting but safe
for just about any living thing to injest. We solved the problem by
cleaning the spot of poopage with baking soda and water (to remove the
smell) and then putting a small dish of food on the same spot. This
evidently made the rats think of this spot as an eating spot and not a
pooping spot. Also we made a big deal of every good poop (in the litter
box) by cooing and giving a treat (usually linatone). This worked for us,
but you have to be careful when to give out treats because it took just two
days for the girls to figure the routine out and start faking. They would
hop in their litter box and make all the motions (with no results), hop
out, and look up at us for a treat. It took my wife and I four days to
figure this scam out. (what does this say about the ferret vs. the human
mind?). Good luck.
