Eye Infection

Our newest fuzzie, Kika seems to have some type of white mucous in and
around her right eye.  She did have a cold, but she is much better now
except for her eye.  Could it be an eye infection?  If so, are there any
home remedies I can put on her eye to help it get better.  Is there any
possibility that she may go blind from this?
