Please let this serve as a reminder to all who have small pets in their
home:
 
Today I took the opportunity of a bit of spare time to clean out all the
cages and wash rugs and bedding.  I had a litle female in surgery so I
took the phone with me to the laundry room in case the vet called.  I had
one cage of fur children running around.  When the phone rang, I opened
the dryer far enough to stop the motor and tub so that I could hear.  I
was standing in front of the dryer the whole time but in those few
minutes, Parker managed to crawl inside.  Without a second thought, when
I ended my phone call, I closed ther dryer and started it cycle again.
15 Minutes later I opened it to pull the clean ferret rugs and to my
horror, a small white ferret fell out with them.  Their own curiosity is
their own worst enemy is what I tell all pending adopters.  I cannot
remember the last time that I did not check the washer and dryer before
filling.  Please let my heart break be a lesson in extra caution with
small pets in the home.  It onlt took a matter os seconds for Parker to
scurry into the dryer practically under my nose.  It is heart breaking to
know that as ferret rescue and shelter, my carelessness caused the death
of one under my care and protection.
