First off, I would like to say thanks to everyone who helped work on the new
HSUS provisions. It's a ray of hope for us CA's.

Secondly, I must comment on the 'out of his misery folks' who wrote to
Dayna. As many people pointed out, time & time again, this is a horrible,
incomprehensible attack on a innocent creature. However, any living
creature who is sentient knows that they have the ability to overcome the
worst crisis that life can throw at them. Our Paw Paw-less will adapt &
persevere.

Third, I would like to say CONGRATS to the woman (her name escapes me) that
adopted 4 boys in GA. I was 1 of the people who sent info to her regarding
the placement of these guys and I am happy to know that they found a good
home..keep in touch!

In addition, I would like to say something about biting. This is a very
touchy subject, as live in CA, and bad rumors abound here (& on the FML
about acceptable biting behaviors). I have 3 females who are all MF ferts
as designated by their tattos. I chose these girls from pet stores
(AAAHH!!! I'm sure there're people out there cringing right now). I spent
significant time in the pet rooms, at the stores, accesssing their
personalities (the store owners were ready to kick me out). The outcome was
that I brought home a business of 3 girls who, to date, have nibbled but
never bit. It constantly amazes me the amount of postings listing the bites
fert owners must endure. I would like to stress that this is not normal
behavior, in my experience.

OTOH, I did visit one pet shop, that had kits that were the equal of the
'Tasmanian Devil' (I left bleeding). My conclusion was that there is a
significant difference between 'PET' quailty ferts & 'NON-PET' quality ferts
(obviously those ferts came from a breeder that didn't socialize they're
kits properly & just wanted to make $$$$$$$). It has been my experience,
that a loud 'OUCH" is enough to keep my girls from sinking their teeth into
me. I hope that this can this can be true for others.

As far as education about ferts goes, my hats off to FANG. Also, I took
Chloe, my 9 mos. old sprite, to the convelescent home where my 89 yr old
G-Ma stays. Chloe was the life of the party! The home was in AZ, where
ferts are legal. The residents of this home were thrilled to see her &
wanted to hold her (the solice that Clhoe gave them was indescribable).
Chloe gave them so much pleasure and comfort that it made my semi-risky run
for the the border (from CA to AZ) completely worth it! In my opinion,
giving pleasure to anyone who may have lost hope is education at its finest.

all the best--diana & her brood

PS. I know many will e-mail concerning the risks I take. Please remember,
that if you don't live near CA you have NO frame of reference from which to
judge. Please remember, no one knows (who does not live here) how easy it
is to transport our precious cargo across the boundaries.
