Hi Emily!
 
It sounds like your gal has an anal gland impaction- possible infection.
 
First of all try holding her butt in a warm soak 2 times a day-- this
should help the anal oils drain and clear.  If this continues she needs
to be on aan antibiotic.  If the infection continues then it will become
medically necessary to remove the offending gland.  The vet should be
able to determine ( perhaps you can) which side it is on- there should be
a firmness perhaps sign of redness on either the left or the right of the
anus.
