Rochelle, I was in almost exactly the same position as you in regards to
getting a new ferret. The two of mine, while not best of friends, seem content
to share the cage. It seems to be regarded as neutral ground. Pico who was my
first one really prefers her playtime to herself though. She's not her normal
semi-bouncy self unless she knows Nitro is in the cage. Nitro doesn't care one
way or the other. He's a lot more energetic though and seems to make Pico
nervous. While it would be nice if they'd play together more, I can live with
the status quo. Just take it slow and let them try the same cage for naps after
they exaust themselves playing. I also gave both of mine a bath so they'd start
on an even footing (sorta....Pico has her scent glands). Good luck.
