I would like to share my experience with Lauren about heartworm prevention.
I live in a place which is a very high risk area for Heartworm disease:
Italy (infact my old collie has it).

So this problem arose as soon as I bought the ferrets.

I bugged everyone even from this FML.

Finally I called Dr Kemmerer in Fla twice. She was very kind and patient
and explained to me how to prepare the solution and how to administer it.
Two of my ferrets like it and they take it without any problem even though
the Doctor told me it has a bad taste but they seem to trust me.... they
realize it later.

The other two don't really appreciate it. I hold them by the nape so that
they lay on my arm belly up and then...feed it to them as quick as possible
followed by the Ferretone so that they'll not associate the unpleasentness.
Also in this position I noticed that they instinctively swallow!

As I also noticed that heartworm disease is not commonly discussed, I
strongly suggest all pet owners in high risk area to keep their animals on
prevention! It is a serious disease and the cure is as dangerous as the
disease!

Ciao
