From the scant information which you have given, I know that I,
personally, have doubts about getting involved.  Are you certain that
your niece's parents do not have a good reason for not allowing her
to get a ferret?  You haven't said anything about your niece's age,
whether she has other pets, or her ability to accept responsibility.
 
I know that this isn't what you want to hear, MECC, but your niece's
parents are the ones who are responsible for her, and they appear to
have made their decision. Rather than bombarding them with
information, perhaps it would be best to let the matter rest, at
least for a while.
