There have also been a number of individuals who reacted to Galaxy D, but
either is a good vaccine for most ferrets even though ferrets are off-label
on Galaxy.

THE BEST HOPE: look in the back issues of the FML from earlier this year
about the new vaccine which Merial is working on. Note that letters are
NEEDED to prove that there is enough market for this vaccine to be pursued.
Note that the info comes through two major veterinary pathologists, one of
whom is probably the world's best ferret pathologist. Send a letter! It's
easy to search the back issues (even I can do it). Look under things like
"Merial", "Montali", "Williams", "Vaccine". If you absolutely can't then
write to me and I'll have to stick the info on that all together as time
allows (may take a while -- very busy) and get it out again.

Oh, my gosh! Folks, instead of using what owners recommend without first
checking with a vet on what is safe, go to a vet and use what the VET says
to use, but as long as you have the recommendations take them along and ask
in case the vet says that there is now a concentration of this that is safe
for ferrets (There might or might not be.), or if other things are okay,
dangerous, whatever. Do NOT go by manufacturer's labels because a number
of ferrets have been written about here in the past dying from the wrong
thing being used even though the manufacturer's label said use would be
safe. This is a topic which gets me worried because I've been here long
enough to have folks cry on my shoulders thorough the years when they
believed that some of the flea-things labeled as safe actually were but
those things instead killed their ferrets, so I really, really think that
expert advice makes a LOT of sense in this situation.
