I'd be inclined to check it in a vet's office due to this situation:

Vets should always know all that a ferret is getting, anyway, but since
it appears that it seems to have lowered blood sugar in this ferret, and
there is no real study on this herbal use that I have heard of in the
past (no time to look today) it is important to use caution when first
trying it to be safest just in case that response happens in another.
