Robin~

I never received any word about my gifts, either. The day I had the
items mailed from the online store from which the gifts were purchased
I emailed the shelter to let them know to expect presents for three
ferrets. I know that I didn't send a lot this year; we're in a really
bad living situation, thanks to my MIL, and we are seriously hurting
for money these days -- but we still "adopted", purchased items, and
had them sent. I never received any response to my email, nor have I
received any word since.

I don't expect to be showered with praise or anything; I'd simply like
to know that the shipment was received! I paid for it with the little
money we set aside for charity stuff this holiday season, and I want
to know that my money didn't disappear down a black hole. :(

No one seems to care about simple good manners anymore. I am very
disappointed; I feel that I was blown off. Yeah, sometimes I'm too
sensitive, but there you have it. Common Courtesy is dead, and now
is merely a rare and precious commodity.

I hope that you are wrong about "a couple of ferrets going without" in
2007; it isn't the ferrets' fault, after all! I will, if we are able,
find a different shelter (probably our local rescue this time, which
I'd have done in the first place if arrangements hadn't already been
made by the time I thought about it) for next Christmas. I hope that we
can give much more this time, to more fuzzies...because it's for them,
after all. I wholeheartedly urge you to try to convince these generous
folks *not* to give up, and to simply try again this year. I don't
think these shelter folks are "bad" people, and I agree that they
probably are ridiculously busy... but I am, quite honestly, fed up with
the disintegration of moral values and plain courtesy. It's largely
what has made me become agoraphobic & xenophobic. At least I can trust
my ferts and kitties to have no morals -- they're animals; I don't
expect it from them. :)

I pray that my "adoptees" are well, received their goodies, and have
a healthy, happy New Year, regardless. I also hope that the shelter
people involved in my situation also have a happy, healthy New Year,
and receive the consideration and care from the public that they
deserve for their hard work.
