Before I say this I admit I didn't have the benefit of reading the post
about a CA resident getting a ferret because BIG snipped it.
 
Why you elitist JERKS!!  There are many things in life that we all feel is
wrong however, not all of us wish to fight for every "little" thing that
irks us or "gets" us.
 
Just because this person in CA doesn't want to help in the legalisation
fight doesn't mean they don't deserve a ferret.  From what info was posted
at least they are somewhat knowledgable in that they have decided to get a
"fixed" ferret.  Look at it this way; how many groups want your help
w/something?  A lot right?  Well do you give help to all the causes that you
may believe in?  Of course not, for whatever reason you may you don't and NO
ONE has the right to question that or mistreat you because of this.  That
old adage "if you're not w/us you're against us" is pure BS!  This seems to
be the attitude of CFDA1.  Listen, if you high and mighty ferret owners out
in CA are so righteous, how come it's taken this long to get where you are?
I'd say that many ferret owners out there just don't want the attention or
the trouble.
 
I repeat, who ARE you that gives you the right to question someone?  Many
people seem to be unable to do something or seem ill fitted for a role but
come thru w/shining colors.  Everyone deserves a chance at the very least.
Instead of fighting the CA resident in question, do everything in your power
to help.  CDFA1 obviously has the time & motivation for the task.  Just
remember, alienating this person will come to no good end!  It takes true
courage and "smarts" to turn what at first is a conflict to a productive
relationship.  Do you people dump your husbands & wives everytime your have
a unsolvable conflict?

[Moderator's note: "Questioning" IS a right.  That's one reason this list
exists: to let us view other people's opinions about any issues regarding
ferrets.  You don't have to agree; hey, there are many posts just in this
issue that I don't agree with either, but of course I'm going to post them
anyhow if they fall within the guidlelines set.  Another post - on the same
topic, pretty much agreeing with you and quite well reasoned - I'm holding
till tomorrow because it fell just outside the guidelines, but I probably
should have held yours too for calling someone you don't agree with a jerk.
