If you are in an appropriate district in New Jersey: Walt Kavanaugh (a
Republican, running for a State Senate seat) has a history of helping
ferrets. Many years ago a legislator (a young Republican) was trying to get
together legislation to ban ferrets in N.J.; a quick phone call turned up
that Kavanaugh who held his current Assembly seat at that time happened to
know some ferrets personally and liked them a LOT. He said he'd kill the
effort to ban ferrets and he did -- fast. In recent years he has been
following the shedding time studies, he got some materials through to the
Health Department, and he has expressed an interest in being available for
efforts to further help ferrets.

Steve and I are Independents with personal histories of voting split
tickets; most of my votes this time will be for Democrats but I'll vote for
Kavanaugh and some other Republicans, too. If you are in an appropriate
district and are undecided about your N.J. State Senate vote, please,
remember a man who has already helped ferrets.
