Have the vet check to see if there may be a secondary fungal infection;
if so, a different med will be needed.

Fungal infections in ferret ears can sometimes be stubborn but MUST be
cleared up because if they get really bad they can even eat through
bone (fortunately rare).

Sore near genitalia of male: definitely have it checked by a vet. Among
the things which show up in that location are apocrine tumors and
apocrine cysts. An apocrine tumor is something a person wants to try
to get out pretty rapidly. An apocrine cyst can go up and down but
they can reach a point where they need to be rapidly removed.

One rare thing which can happen there which many people do not think to
look for is an infected anal gland which has formed a draining fistula
downward.

There are more everyday things, of course, but it pays to first make
sure there is not something serious and respond thoroughly enough if
there is.
