Hi Kat-
 
You are in posession of the ferret and remember possession is 9/10ths of
the law.  Make this person show you PROOF the ferret is his.
 
Do not provide a description- but make him describe the animal to you.
Have this person bring a receipt of purchase, vaccination / vet records,
and a photograph to allow you to see this is actually his ferret.  If you
have any misgivings that this ferret is his-- then keep it iuntil you are
satisfied you have found the true owner.
 
You are within your rights to do so.
