There has been quite a bit of work with melatonin in ferrets, dogs, and
in mink.Here are a few articles about it.
 
1) Diagnostic Laboratory Insight with Regard to Adrenal Disease

2) Melatonin use in ferret adrenal gland disease

   She also describes the mink melatonin implant.
