Just read your post on the FML. My guy, Loki (who has definite adrenal
disease) was more lethargic than usual and we took him to the vet to
have blood work. The liver enzymes were off the chart and we feared
the worst...liver tumor or cancer. We had an ultrasound scan done
which showed a normal liver and his (known) large adrenal tumor. He
has already had one adrenal removed and is not a candidate for more
surgery. Anyway, the Dr. said it could possibly be a GI issue
causing his liver enzymes to be elevated and he was started on Orbax
(orbifloxacin) 15mg once per day for 10 days and Milk Thistle
supplement. It really made a big difference for him and decreased his
liver enzymes to a high normal. I have also had friend that has had
extremely good results with Orbax. It is expensive but worth it! It
also has a decent shelf life in the refridge for future use.I don't
think Orbax is a well known treatment medication for ferrets
(prescribed for cats). I have never used Baytril, but I do know it is
an older medication that has been used for ferrets. I don't know the
success rate for that med.
