Judy & Ron,

>Fervac. At least that's what I understand...it's an AFA requirement.

For AFA shows (i.e., Ferret Expo & Holiday Ferret Expo) they only recognize
Fervac D, but for AFA "sanctioned" shows I believe it's up to the
sponsoring organization if they will also allow Galaxy.

ANY ferret entering a show hall MUST show proof of vaccination (at least
for distemper, some shows recommend rabies, but don't require it).
Distemper doesn't discriminate if you are showing or just visiting <g>

If you vaccinate at home (like I do), make sure you keep the label from
your Fervac vial as proof of vaccination. I have a vaccination certificate
created for each ferret that lists all the pertinent information (name of
vaccine, vaccination serial number, date, who did the vaccine, etc.) and I
place the label at the bottom of the certificate as proof. If you'd like to
see a copy of what I use, email me privately.

Michelle - As for enthanasia, I know we've all hashed out this heart stick
deal but I still don't agree that it should be used. Running a shelter,
I've had to deal with this situation more times than I would like and NEVER
have I had to use a heart stick. My vet has an injection that can either
be given in a vein or in the abdomen (very small needle - I've held them
and they don't even flinch). They go to sleep very peacefully and soon
it's over. If interested, I'll ask my vet for the name of the drug they
use. Email me privately, please.
