Sean just came home ecstatic because the new Ice Age movie has a ferret
in it. My ears are bleeding. As I type, Sean is sitting across from me
on the couch using his hands like puppets and making funny voices for
each one to imitate what the crazy ferret does in Ice Age.

Almost 18 now, this was Sean's fourth date with his very first
girlfriend. Boy time has flown by since he was the bitty thing that
carried Rocky to little league games, school, and other places little
boys like to frequent. Today, Sean does not need Pharos as the type
of service animal Rocky was. He has a much more normal relationship
with Pharos. Well, almost normal lol. Sean is just about to enter
adulthood. It's insane isnt' it? I keep saying to myself that surely
this isnt' happening. But it is. And he is doing something we worried
he'd not be very successful doing once upon a time ... dating.

She passed his initial test when they first met by acting genuinely
interested in ferrets when Sean brought them up. Then he "got her
digits" as long, cool Sean likes to say. He then went on a few dates
that have been very "interesting" being that he is an emerged autistic.
Each date is an adventure, and this neurotypical girl who is in the
dark about his condition thus far finds him exotic, more masculine than
most, quirky, naive, and strong. His flashing blue eyes so far have
diverted her attention from the more obvious traits. She thinks he's
goofy when he has trouble working a very plain cell phone, and calls
him OCD when he gets "stuck" on something.

During down time she and Sean sit outside in the shade to let Pharos
snuffle through the green grass. They sneak kisses and I just wanna
crawl under a rock. When trying to talk through Skype on laptop, the
little girl is treated to a sniffing, pink, ferret nose pushed into the
camera throughout the conversation. The girl cannot escape ferrets even
via phone. Because before Sean hangs up and after he says " ...love
you", he says "lickety licks from the ferrets".

Today, she has really won his heart. The date ended when she drew the
two of them kissing in anime form along with a cute little ferret
beside them. On the bottom she wrote something about love in Japanese.
Sean feels a bond to the Japanese because of the great interest they
showed in the Sean and Rocky story and most of all for the support they
showed him when he passed. He is floating on a cloud. Everything, and
I mean everything has a meaning and is a sign now. lol.

He's finally quieted down. And now, I"m about to end this post and go
look for some cotton to stuff in my ears to stop the bleeding.
