Kim,

Just incase you didn't know dogs, cats and other animals including
humans, YES Humans, can also go through false pregnancies. Animals
don't necessarily go through a huge amount of stress when being bred
by a whole male or a vissectimised male or being a dud stud although
there are exceptions.

I T is better to leave a ferret whole longer for health sake but where
females are concerned they should be altered about the age of 6-7
months before their fist season unless you intend to breed them.
Unfortunately some females come in before that age therefore they need
to be taken out of season either by using the hormone shot or a V-hob.
Or would you prefer that this little Jill stay in season and run the
risk of dying from Aplastic Anima?

If you feel that strongly against breeding, why did you purchase a
whole male who you later had altered from Guardian Angel Ferrets a
couple of years ago at the BFC Monster Mash? You sound like you are
calling the kettle black You do not like the idea of breeders breeding
and selling their ferrets yet you bought one from a private breeder.

Private reputable breeders usually have homes for the kits they
breed for BEFORE breeding starts. This cannot be said for the Ferret
Farms/Mills. They breed for supply and demand and to line their pockets
with greenbacks. They usually breed without regard for Temperament,
Personality, Heath & Longevity unlike the SMALL Private Reputable
Ferret Breeders.
