What you've done with Bilbo sounds a lot like what we do with ours. When
Sebastian was a baby, I was careful to teach him that when he was being
held, he was being held. He could indicate a desire to get down, but
then he must calmly tolerate the treatment. This has made it much easier
to deal with him when there are strangers about, etc. I'd like to say it
works outside, which is a dangerous place, but he goes nuts to get down
when he's outside. We are working on this with Mortimer, too, and it's
starting to have effect. He no longer *ever* nips to be put down, and
sometimes will relax in our arms when we pick him up, even while playing.

Speaking of play, do any of you have "dirty biters?" I've noticed that
Mortimer will monch on Sebastian's butt and feet if he can't get a grip
on the neck. It's funny, but I can tell it hurts Sebastian, and he never
plays mean like that. I don't know what to do about it other than stand
around and referree whenever they are playing. (Yeah right)
