Todd, I think you forgot part c) for this particular contract.  I have
found it, after much searching through the contract:
 
c) must at least attempt to steal one article of laundry, whether it is
   clean or dirty.
   (i) Said article is better if dirty, and especially better if it is a
       dirty hammock or sleepsack. Obviously, those belong under the couch!

   (ii) If there is only time to steal one small article, steal a sock.
        The human, noticing one sock is missing, will have no use for the
        remaining mate and thus give it to you to play with.  This is a
        an extremely efficient way to to get more bang for your dook.
