Hello,
I must admit I've been lurking in the shadows listening
until the flea problem was mentioned, and fleas are something
I know about.

We live in the middle of the woods, on a dirt road, miles from
nowhere and somehow the fleas can find us. It could be
because I have 4 dogs, 2 ferrets, 1 cat, 1 miniature pig and
4 kids which at some point in time all collect fleas.

I am past the point of screaming, as it doesn't seem to do
any good.

I also have a tarrantula and 2 birds and don't like to use
insecticides in the house or on the pets. What I do use
is Dawn dish soap.

I'm very careful with the eyes, in fact I don't wash the head
at all. Contact with the soap immediately kills the fleas.

A simple way to kill fleas in the house is to find the nest (or
naybe just a favorite warm place they like) lay down a piece
of white paper like newspaper and wait for the fleas to hit it.
Spray them with a pump bottle filled with water and 1 tablespoon
of Dawn and they die immediately.

For one or two fleas on the pets, take a q-tip, dip the end in
a jar of vaseline and touch the flea. They stick and you can
dispose of them in the trash.

It may take a few days of diligent searching, but if you keep
at it they should all be gone within the week.

You might also wash all the bedding in hot water to kill any
eggs.

By the way, Dawn will not remove the color from carpet.

AMK

BTW: does anyone else have a pig and a fuzzy. Our Zack and Snuffles
think we are grooming a pork chop sandwich for them as they constantly
taste Pigger!!
