In answer to alphachi's question on ear cleaning with olive oil let me
state-- never have I used olive oil for cleaning ears or cleaning anything
else less it be for flushing a ferret with a partial obstruction -- it might
have some merit, I just don't know.

Experience has taught us ( here) that the best cleaning agent for ferret
ears is a otic solution such as Oti-Clens or others which can be obtained
through your vet. The solutions are dropped into the ear, you massage
beneath the ear, the cleaning agent loosens up the debris and dirt and the
ferrets can shake it loose. You can always use a q-tip to remove the debris
which is obvious. This will eliminate any chance of rupturing an ear drum
with a q-tip that goes too deep.

Also this type of solution works well if you must treat for mites... some
cleaners defeat the medication and nullify the task.

Just a few thoughts on ear cleaning from the NE!

Have a GREAT day!
