How awful!! I'm sure that most people would rather pay the $25 than see
someone fired over something so minor. It's not like the housekeeper
pocketed the money. I certainly hope the organizers of this event will
let the hotel know how inappropriate this is. And, I further hope they
will contact the corporate offices about it and attempt to have this
person re-hired.

This certainly doesn't reflect well on Sheraton Hotels, IMO.
