Hello FML'ers
 
I realize posting anonymously doesn't always yield the best response, since
it's usually easier to e-mail the person directly.  Being in CA though, I
feel the need to protect my furrbutts to the utmost degree, so if anyone has
any info.  on my following problem, I would really appreciate some advice
via the FML!
 
We adopted a male fert about 6 mos. ago named Silk, who is believed to be
about 3 yrs. old.  He was a little pudgy when we got him, and he has not
lost any extra fat since he's been with us, so we're keeping an eye on that.
However, my concern is that last night, I heard Silk vomiting.  I
immediately woke myself up to check on him, and he was heaving and vomiting
quite a bit.  I just held him steady until he was thru, and I'm pretty sure
he emptied all of his stomach contents, poor little guy.  I was very
worried, so I got him to drink some water, and I had just given him some
hairball stuff a few hours earlier.  After a few minutes he seemed to be
back to normal, so I tried to go back to sleep, but every time I heard a
fuzzbutt get up, I had to check.
 
He seemed O.K. for the rest of the night, and I saw him eating and drinking
a few hours later which he seemed to keep down.  I checked the litter box in
the morning, and I think he pooped, although it could have been any of the
three ferts in the room, but some of the poop was the same color as his
vomit, so I'm hoping it was his.  I isolated him in his own cage this
morning, so I can double check that he is pooping when I get home from work.
I know ferts can vomit for various reasons, but that it's usually uncommon,
and I've never seen any of ours vomit so profusely.  My worst short term
fear is a blockage, but I was hoping some of you out there may have more
advice/suggestions for Silk!
