As a person whose Dr. told me I needed to live in a bubble due to
literally being allergic to everything I'd be inclined to think that
your friend is having an alleregic reaction to something the ferrets
are using - like litter especially. If your friend isn't allergic to
cats or dogs it isn't likely that she is allergic to a specific animal.
Ferret fur isn't that different from cat or dog fur.

It very well could be something in the ferret food too that may be
triggering her reactions. Or a cleaning substance.

OR it could simply be a convenient excuse to back out of something the
friend is now realizing takes too much effort to continue - its amazing
how many ferrets need new homes on places like craigslist because the
people "are allergic".

IT should be easy enough to pinpoint the antagonist - put some litter
on a square of gauze, tape the gauze to the inside of the forearm and
see if any irritation surfaces. repeat with various ferret items. Snip
some ferret fur and do the same thing.

Of course it could just be a coincidence and there is something else
that has changed in the household at the same time as the ferrets- its
winter - when was the last time their heating ducts were cleaned? Or
has the house itself been closed up tight and this is contributing to
allergic type reactions?

IF they work outside the home - has something changed at work?
Allergies come from many different directions.

Of course without an actual medical evaluation all they can do is
speculate.

Cheers,
Kim
