Geez, miss a week and you miss a bunch.
I posted "Ferrets, plains, and planes" to BIG, personally and anonymously,
because I didn't want to start a tiff. Bad plan.
  Sorry Mr. Swain.
Thanks a lot Bill (I'm a dope -- you're supposed to know better.)

[Moderator's note: Huh? I think I missed something here? BIG]

Alright already. OK. No ferrets left in the car. Don't do anything rash.
Keep a level head. Watch for panting and drooling. Always have some Karo
syrup handy. Ice-filled milk jugs from the freezer. Buy an air conditioner.
Roll them onto their backs and drop chilled grapes into their mouths. Fan
them with palm fronds. Maybe a nice daiquiri, with miniature umbrella.
The bottom line is (and I hope Rudy the Ferlosopher backs me up on this):
being relatively small, ferrets have a greater surface area to volume ratio
than larger pets, and are therefore more susceptible to ambient conditions.
  Hoo-boy.
Pam Greene and Debbie Riccio say that ferrets are of burrowing origin. Pam
Grant says the BFFs are nocturnal. You're all probably right. Ferrets
*might* have enough sense to stay in a cool hole when it's hot outside. Ms.
Riccio, we'll have to disagree on ferret airline carry-on.
Mr. Killian: Laura McDonald doesn't enjoy being nitpicky, but I do.
Hyenas ain't canines; I think they're a different Order (she says
infraorder -- I don't know what that is; let's defer to a carnivore expert).
 M. Furo and M. Nigripes are the same genus, and some argue that they're the
same species. OK OK it doesn't matter. No ferrets in the car. Grapes.
 Karo. Ice bags. Daiquiris.
Thank you, Mr. Nesbitt & Ms. Sylvan, for the shreads of sanity. Mr.
Nesbitt, no slight upon your fair country was intended.
Why ferrets don't radiate heat as well as they absorb it is another
question. Rudy?
Never mind. I've had enough. Forget the last query. You guys win.
More imortantly; condolences to the parents of P. Bear & Gunther.
