Top O' the mornin' to ya.

I am rather new to the list. And rather distressed to read about KODO. My
wife and I have two male ferrets..Roscoe(a 6.5lbs Sable) and Beauregard(a
3lbs silvermitt). The thought of either of them being subjected to KODO's
plight prompted me to call Florida's Health Department.

The people there were very helpful and friendly, but the info they had to
pass on was both distressing and relieving.

Florida is also a kill and test state. It is believed here that there is
not enough information available to prove that rabies vaccinations work
with ferrets. However, if you do have a current record of all your little
weasles vaccinations, and the little monster has never been lost or out of
your site, they will go with quarinteen instead of destruction.

The woman I talked to on the phone said she would try to get me all the info
she could on cases in Florida involving ferrets, including the one involving
the pet store in Sarasota. When I receive it I will pass it along.
