hi all -

re litter box fillers:

i've seen suggestions before about using alfalfa pellets in the litter box
instead of cat litter. i figured we could give it a try, because the cat
litter gets messy when it's tracked all around. well, the pellets are
certainly cheap if you buy a big bag and it smells ok, but the only ferrets
who took an interest in it seemed to think it made a pretty good snack!
maybe they're part rabbit. has anyone had luck using this stuff?

re growth patterns:
we've been weighing our two newest boys every day since we got them, just to
see how fast they grow. it's scary! they've been putting on just over half
an ounce a day, on average, and Odo (the bigger of the two) has gone from 11
ounces to 1 pound 13 ounces in the 5 weeks we've had him. Quark is keeping
up the pace, having gone from 10 ounces to 1 pound 10 ounces. on the graph,
their weight is going up in a straight line. does any one know when we
could expect their weight gain to level off? at this rate they'll outweigh
the cats in a couple months! the vet figures they're about 12 weeks old at
this point, and they aren't fixed (yet).
