Hi,

For the person whose ferrets won't eat snacks, it took each of our ferrets
some time to get used to things, even raisons! One of our little guys still
hasn't mastered cantalope - the favorite of the universe for the other six!
My SO, Janos, wipes the unexperienced treat on the lips and teeth of our
babies. It sometimes takes a couple of days but this is often the only way
to introduce them to treats enough so they begin to like them. Of course,
some of the ferrets never learn to like some of the treats.

I had a funny experience trying to pick out cat foods for our Gang of Seven.
They get Mazuri ferret food, about half mixed with a high quality cat food,
with some light cat food sometimes mixed in. The pet store gave me a bunch
of high-quality cat food samples and, over the course of a couple weeks, I
did a taste test with six different foods. EACH food was a favorite of a
DIFFERENT ferret - now how am I going to fit six eight-pound bags of food in
cabinet?! Ah well - *sigh* - where there's a will there's a way. Nurto's
Maxi for cats and IAMS for cats were probably the top pix, but from then on
down it was fairly well split. Schroeder Boat loved this new stuff with an
avocado on front - Avo something. Nobody else touched it. Gadzook loved
Pet Gold, Tarzan loved the new health food natural Nutro (green striped
bag), Minnie craved Nutro Max, Claudette LOVED IAMS, Wally only ate one
Healthy Choice bit, and so on, with a few switches on favorites. The test
took a long time as Tarzan, Minnie and Claudette had to run off and eat each
bit of food in private. I'm picking three foods that will satisfy everyone
to some degree - these little guys do love variety!
