     I got my ferret when I was in a dorm where they were
illegal.  I would not recommend showing him outside.  My ferret
even escaped a couple of times with out me knowing it!  So I
recommend that the other people on your floor be trusted to know
that you have a ferret.
 
As for biting feet, well you have to let your ferret know how much
playing you will tolerate. The "NO!" immediately followed by
a thump on the knose usually works.  There is a product called
Biter Apple which is supposed 2b an xcellent deterent ..although
I have never used it.
 
As for cat food,  IAMS seems to be widely accepted to be "GOOD STUFF"
