Ferret Owner Not Cited, What's DFG Afraid Of?

Today, Joe Kouri of San Carlos, and his ferret Winston, made a public
appearance on the steps of the State Capitol. The California Department of
Fish and Game was notified of his scheduled appearance, as were local
police. What happened to this lawbreaker and his illegal contraband?
Absolutely nothing.

The facts surrounding this controversy are really quite simple. The ferret
is domesticated and doesn't belong on a list of prohibited wildlife. DFG's
ridiculous ban on a single domesticated species by falsely classifying it as
wild wouldn't hold up in a court of law, and they apparently know it.

Ferret supporters are certain they'll win this battle in the long run, and
the longer it rages, the worse the department looks. It's a shame to see
this agency willing to continue to tarnish it's image over anything and
everything they perceive as their "turf". Unfortunately for those of
quality within the department, there are thousands of Californians who know
the truth of the ferret matter, and see DFG for what it is, an agency in
severe need of some housecleaning.

Sincerely,
Jeanne Carley
