Hi!
Well, I got into trouble again, but we are now the proud parents of a 6 week
old silver fur-ball. Nanette handled it pretty well (mentally) after she
handled it physically. I was only grounded for 3 months... Pug, Penny, and
Hobbs, see it more as an invasion for the moment... But Hobbs has already
taken the role of the initiator into the family. We didn't name her yet, she
was just a bit tired when I took her home last night, and I thought 'Sleepy'
might not truely reflect our babies attitude. I was told she just got off
the plane yesterday morning, when the pet shop called my office. (about an
hour after I promised my wife I would mellow my spending for a couple weeks)

Anyhow, I was wondering if anyone knows a mail order outfit for ferret
goods. I seem to remember one from about 6 years ago (Maryland maybe), but
need to get a current catalogue. Ferret paraphernalia is so scarce...
Although I did get a great shirt with Pug, Penny, and Hobbs painted on it
for my birthday.

Also, is there a true list of ferret bred colors? I've heard alot of
different terms for colors but I haven't been able to determine which are
which. Pug is supposedly a silver. He is now almost 100% apricot.
Black eyes and pink nose. He has a silver birthmark on his right side.
Penny is a sable female with a pink pointy nose. Her colors are shades of
brown and grey with whitish under fur. Hobbs was supposedly a silvermit.
When he arrived home, he was light grey-brown with apricot toes (not feet)
and throat. Now he appears to be a lighter shade sable like penny but with
an apriocot throat still. No more apricot toes. ???, our new baby, is
supposedly another silver ferret. She is grey and black with apricot markings
on her throat and feet. Her tail is mostly black and she has a very light
silver mask. She has a brown nose and her tail is almost entirely
black/charcoal. I compared her to pictures of Pug and they appear to be
quite different. Pug had an apricot under fur with white and black guard
hairs. He did not have a mask at all. Other than face, shoulder, and tail,
the guard hairs are the same between the two... BUT, ??? has only baby down
and it will be a month or two until we can tell what she will look like.
Anyway, this color issue is just a curiosity for me and I was wondering if
their are any color specifications for various color breeds. Maybe a photo
chart?

Well enough rambling...
Have a Great Ferreting Day!
Ted.
