About the pet store debate and my post about the Erie pet stores I
visited...I was asking for ideas on what can be done to convince the pet
stores to take better care of their ferrets, and some discussion has been
going on about it on various other lists. I wasn't just ranting about them
and not bothering to think of doing anything...I was trying to find the
most efficient and productive way of approaching the pet stores. Just
randomly saying, "I don't like how you are treating the ferrets" is not
going to do any good. Training classes for employees, ferret awareness
days, (which the Erie ferret club is in the very early stage of attempting
to plan), and appealing to the profit side of care, have all been
suggested. Just because one rants about conditions does not necessarily
mean its pointless and nothing will be done.
