We have decided that part of Meltdown's problem is that she is sleeping
more, and doing it more deeply so when we are asleep she may go long periods
without drinking or eating as much as she had done before, but that does not
explain (despite her having a proportional bladder size any woman would wish
for) how she went through the morning and so much of the afternoon with her
bladder DOWN despite the intake I KNOW she got.  It was as if her kidneys
just took a vacation for a bit but without pain.  Anyway, she has gone
since, but it is NOT happening as often or in as much volume as before.  We
are watching her ascites, her intake, her out-put, and are a bit aware of
the problems which may happen if it is her kidneys.  COULD VETS, PLEASE,
TELL US MORE?  Our exotics specialist, Hanan Caine is away at a conference
in PA, and the other folks at the hospital are WONDERFUL but a bit leery of
dealing with ferrets since they are so much different from other animals.
(They HAVE helped Meltie in the past, though, including saving ehr life, and
will do so again when needed; besides they enjoy her cuddles.  Hmm, wouldn't
Cuddles be a cute name?) Anyway, she is on Amoxi, the urine is not thick,
not discolored, not colored at all, not foul.  We added some cranberry just
in case.  This is an 8 year and almost 4 month old spayed female (long term--
years -- survivor of removal of malignant adrenal which was well
incapsulated, and of huge spleen which was removed to prevent rupture), who
has had cardiomyopathy with controlled ventricular bigmeini for 10 months,
is on maximum dosages of Furosemide for her size as per Liz Hillyer's new
numbers, is on Enacard, Digoxin, Nusalt and Winstrol (which she needs
forhind end mobility and appetite), is near the end of a run of Amoxi for
her second intestinal bleed-out (first traced to heavy cream which had been
completely tolerated before and second to aspirin), vitamin E in hopes that
she will not again throw a clot, and who just went off Pepto.  She is not
showing pain, and is mildly active.
