Since I wrote about the loss of Zeus due to a severe reaction to Fervac-D
on August 23 I have had experience with thirteen other ferret distemper
vax. My vet still had eight Purevax, so we did four of the shelter's and
four members' ferrets. The shelter four were pre-treated with Children's
Bendryl an hour before and the other four were pre-treated by the vet.
One had a pretty bad reaction but he was known to be a reactor. Two
others had the vomiting but weren't too bad.

Later I took in five more to the same vet who is now using Fromm-D for
lack of Purevax. All were pre-treated by the vet. There were no
reactions and I took them home. One, an albino male, had a mild reaction
about an hour after the shot; he got loose poop and was just lying around
for a while recovering. I gave him .5 cc Benedyl at home per vet's
advice. He's just fine now.

Does anyone have any opinions about Fromm-D? Is it as effective as
Galaxy, another off-label use? If it is good I was happy with the
results.
