I knew that this was going to be the year that I lost most of my seniors.
I have lost 5 this year and last night Pepper, a beautiful 5 year old
silver was taken to the emergency vet because he was blocked. After we got
him drained she started poking and prodding and found the nodes at his back
legs huge and what felt like a huge spleen. He peed throughout the night
and off to the vet at Aurora this morning. They will have to do an
exploratory (sigh) to see if they can find the problem. The x ray showed
some fluid in his tummy and some very nasty looking masses. I honestly
do not know what I will do if it is cancer. I am hopeful but guardedly
so. Pepper showed signs of Adrenal last year and blocked before he had his
surgery. When the went in to unblock him and to remove the gland, both
adrenals looked fine. His hair began to grow back but he blocked again
about 3 weeks later. Since then he has regrown all his hair and kept it
and we have not had a problem since. At least until last night. Please
say a prayer that all will be well for Pepper. I am not ready to lose
another one yet, but I am never ready. At least nto one that still has
several great years in front of him.
