First, thank you to everyone who has been incredibly supportive. The
members of this list know better than anyone what Fresno and I have gone
through in the past month. It's been hard.

I'm sorry to say that Fresno lost his fight to cancer about an hour ago.
Just two days ago he was romping with Nusa, eating well, and taking his
medicine with a slight grimace. Yesterday he had a slow day, but I
thought that was just a cold he'd been fighting off. Tonight I found him
quivering but otherwise motionless, and had to pry his jaws apart just to
give him a little water. The emergency vet did what he could, but ...

I realize in the grand scale of the universe, one tiny ferret's life may
not matter so much. It's not like what happened on September 11th or
anything. But Fresno touched my life in ways I can't even comprehend,
making it a happier and more joyful place. He had a heart of gold, and
a spirit as bright as fire. Fresno, I'll always miss you.

I've had to get up four times while typing this, to grab Nusa and take
away the candy she's discovered. I guess I could move the candy bowl,
but we both seem to need this. Life goes on, for some of us.

Sadly,
--Fred, Nusa, and always Fresno
